This looks like a lovely minimal nightstand app.

The white elephant in the room.
The Ikea Uppleva, not sure what I make of this. Wouldn’t mind seeing one in action and seeing what the quality is like.
Love the minimal factor to it.
Since Android released their first set of Design Guidelines for Ice Cream Sandwich, they also seem to be pushing things even further with the latest instalment of their open source OS. This is something that I’ve wanted to see for a while, and hopefully will be carried out throughout new devices.
A recent post on their blog from Tim Bray hails the death of the Menu Button, with users being shown the way to use the new ‘Action Bar’. This is a decent move from Android, and I hope to see more of these decisions coming out in the next few months. Although I still believe this should’ve been done in the first place, better late than never.
I’ve been following the Rasberry Pi blog for a while now, and while initially I thought it would allow me to play PC games on my TV, I’m even more excited by the latest announcements in the recent week.
This little piece of kit has been said to have double the GPU performance of an iPhone 4S, and is said to kick the NVIDIA Tegra 2’s butt.
The Rasberry Pi has also been shown running XBMC and acting as an AirPlay output device, this is amazing and opens up a whole load of possibilities for the $25 Linux based tiny computer.

I watched Wilson Miner’s talk from Build 2011 this morning, whilst sitting in an empty studio and no distractions, I became completely immersed in the talk to a point where I found myself forgetting where I was.
Everything he talks about is so spot on, and said in such a moving way, to echo one of the comments on the video, thank you for 40 minutes of pure inspiration. I just wish I could’ve seen it live.
This talk is a must watch for any type of creative, go see it here
Matias Duarte announced exclusively on The Verge as CES, the released of the first Android: Ice Cream Sandwich Design Guidelines.
The only thing I can say about this is it’s about time, these are very positive steps from Google. Android is like Marmite for me, I want it to do well and hopefully Matias will continue to push it in the right direction.
Android is going to be a successful operating system on TVs
— Rishi Chandra in an interview with The Verge’s Nilay Patel.
I really can’t see this happening, it’s once again showing Androids’ fragmentation, not only across mobile devices but now potentially across our Television Sets. The one reason I love my Apple TV is that I can pick up my iPhone or iPad and use it as a remote, or even to Airplay something. I’ve not seen this from Android at all, just obscure remote controls with keyboards, and the last thing anyone needs is a complicated remote to control a complicated UI.
Walking in to work this morning, I fired up my usual blogs only to be told numerous times that Netflix in the UK and Ireland is now live, with a 1 month free trial, and £5.99/€6.99 a month after that. Let the battle commence between Lovefilm and Netflix.
I’ve signed up for a months free trial, which could lead to me cancelling my Lovefilm. I’ll be posting my thoughts soon.
